Do you have an easy tip to live more sustainably?

Having recently moved, I’ve had everything I own in my hands several times. I thought I could do with little, but it turns out: I have a lot. And it actually made me feel bad. Throwing it all away would be the opposite of sustainability. Still, the process in itself was eye-opening. We’ve gotten so used to buying things, but I think real sustainability could potentially arise by letting ourselves be free from our way of being consumer first, human second.

That’s not an easy tip, but learning to appreciate what’s already there – whether in your kitchen cupboard or wardrobe – is.

What does conscious consumption look like in your daily life?

We (aim to) buy small, local, and seasonal. Even if nothing is perfect, there’s a consideration in everything we have. My partner also has that magic capability of looking into a seemingly empty fridge and creating a fantastic meal from that.

We care about adding something better. What do you add to your life to make it better?

I’m learning to add more kindness – towards others and myself. I honestly think it’s harder than training for a marathon, but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be worth the effort.
